Mycelium Data Center
Designed and implemented Mycelium Software’s in-house data center, featuring x64-based CPU architecture, Layer 3 Dell switches, storage appliances on a storage area network, and WatchGuard products for perimeter defense and VPN endpoints. Ensured full redundancy across all systems using RAID, LACP, and high availability protocols. This new facility enabled an 89% reduction in operating costs by transitioning from a hosted cloud solution to a leased cabinet at a colocation facility.

EDMOS – Enterprise Data Management OS
Developed a custom fork of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system designed to streamline the installation process of our in-house, java based, enterprise application. This version automatically installs the base OS and then deploys the entire stack (database architecture, middleware, and application) using an array of Bash and Expect scripts. This fully automated process eliminates the need for any user interaction and cuts deployment time from several days to mere minutes.

Syspulse
Developed and protytyped a comprehensive system for real-time monitoring of manufacturing asset health, including the design and deployment of devices, firmware, servers, and software. The devices were equipped with sensors to monitor key parameters like temperature, vibration, and pressure output of machines. This data was securely logged through an encrypted uplink to servers, where it was analyzed in real time. If any parameters deviated from predefined thresholds, an alert was immediately triggered.
The device, built on ARM64 CPU architecture, featured Power over Ethernet (PoE) and cellular modem connectivity, with full encryption based on VPN standards. By leveraging open-source hardware and software, Marc rapidly implemented the project with minimal financial and human resources. The result was not only delivered well under budget and ahead of schedule but also demonstrated exceptional reliability.

Datacom Data Center
Designed and implemented a robust client hosting facility for Datacom Specialists. This solution featured a modern x64-based CPU architecture, Layer 3 Dell switches, storage appliances on a storage area network, and Watchguard products for perimeter security and VPN endpoints. To ensure high availability and fault tolerance, all systems were configured with appropriate redundancy protocols, including RAID, LACP, and HA. This facility not only enabled us to offer cloud services to our clients directly, but also maximized profitability associated with those services.

Vacuum Pressure Monitor
Engineered a custom device to monitor and log pressure data for a client’s specific needs. This device utilized a standard NPT pressure transducer to monitor pressure levels and logged the data to an SD card in a format compatible with Microsoft Excel. The collected data was crucial for the end user, who used it to justify expenses to their own client by identifying specific undesirable conditions. Thanks to the precise data captured by this custom-engineered solution, the end user successfully demonstrated these conditions, providing critical evidence to their client.

Autonomous Distillation Controller
Developed an automated water distillation apparatus.
In the pictured still, Marc designed the electronics and wrote the firmware to control the valves that ensure continuous operation. The system functions by weighing the distillation vessel and opening a valve when the vessel’s weight falls below a specified threshold. With precise calibration, the apparatus can operate autonomously, enabling continuous distillation.

Better Mouse Trap
Prototyped a microcontroller-based system to control a trap door using an IR sensor and servo motor. The IR sensor detects movement, triggering the microcontroller to activate the servo motor and close the trap door. This system operates similarly to a garage door safety sensor, but in reverse—it closes the door when movement is detected, rather than keeping it open.

Datacom Bitcoin Mine
Designed and oversaw construction of a 3 megawatt bitcoin mining facility. We utilized traditional dell layer 3 switches, Watchguard products for the perimeter defense and VPN endpoint, but implemented experimental cooling instead of traditional chilling methods. The outcome of the experimental cooling was ultimately higher net and lower operating expenses , but also less maintenance overall.
